Sustainability stands for innovation but it has ancient roots

                                                                                                                                             

Hans Carl von Carlowitz coined the term "sustainability" in his work "Sylvicultura Oeconomica" published in 1713.                                                                              

With a view to ensuring a lasting supply of wood, he was the first to plan a forest management by determining how many trees could be cut down each year. He suggested to immediately reforest every logged forest area.

This notion fell into oblivion for nearly three centuries.
